Dear Grade 8 Parents,

Today, we had a member of the Guidance team from Langstaff S.S. to discuss the course selection process. Please ask your child about this and get them to show you how they will be selecting courses.  I handed out yellow folders to those who are zoned for Langstaff. We require your registration forms by January 25th, 2018. We are expecting a similar presentation from the Guidance Department of Thornlea S.S. later this week. 

*If your child is transferring to another high school, they will require a transfer from which can be obtained in the office. This must be completed and handed in with the registration form*

Langstaff will be coming in on Monday to go over your Course selection.  This process is the same for all YRDSB Secondary Schools, so it's important to learn about the process even if you aren't attending Langstaff.

Our bus cancellation today has forced us to delay some of our important dates next week. Please read below to ensure that you are up to date!

Working on our goal setting today! 

Happy New Years to all!

It sounds like most of you had an incredible winter break!  

Homework:
Create your personal, academic and physical SMART Goals for the year. Ensure that they are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bound.  You are also going to need to describe what you are going to do to achieve it, and how you are going to TRACK it!  If we can track our progress, we can achieve our goals.  Review them with your parents tonight and ask them for their feedback!

Parents, please ask your child how they are going to track their progress. Checklists, charts, calendars, tables, etc. are great ways that can help.
