December 21, 2017

Dear Students,

You were very well behaved today.  Great job! Really strong discussion about the precepts from the movie.

Re: Tomorrow
You will be allowed to bring in your food for the party! Feel free to bring in your own board games as well.  We will also have a Cobra tournament tomorrow if you are interested. Please bring in a deck of cards.

COBRA Rules Review:
Each player has 7 cards.  Each card is worth a certain amount of points A - 1pt, 2 - 2pts, 3 -3pts, etc.  10 -10 pts. J - 11 pts, Q - 12 pts, K - 13 pts. The purpose of the game is to have the lowest amount of cards. When it is your turn you have 2 options: Play or Call.

Call - this is when you are asking everyone on the table to show their cards and you believe you have the lowest amount. If you do have the lowest amount of points - you get zero.  Everyone else gets the number of points that you have.  If someone else has the same number of points as you or less, you get 30 pts plus whatever points are in your hand, and everyone else gets zero for that round.  * You can only call if you have 30 points or less in the first round, or 20 points or less in the second round.

Play - If you choose to play, you are trying to get rid of your high-value cards.  You can play a single card, a double of a card, triple or quadruple of a card.  You can play 3 or more of the same suit or 3 or more cards in a sequence (i.e. 3,4,5).  After you have played a card, you must pick up a card from the deck or one of the cards that were played from the person before you.

The game is over when a player gets 100 points.  The person with the lowest score wins.
