- It's official: The book talk has been assigned. They are due on October 26th!  
Grade 8 Stylistic devices: Metaphor, Irony or Symbolism.
Grade 7 Stylistic Devices: Simile, Foreshadowing, and Symbolism.

- Create a reason why another student should read your novel.  Provide evidence (quote) and create the context(Who, Where, When) and the commentary (Why, What or how).  We will examine these tomorrow.
- Read for 20 min.

- Great workroom for students that need to write the re-test. Please ask your child if they attended the workroom - this was offered to students who had received less than a 3- on their last math test.  If they didn't show up to the workroom today, they will not be allowed to write the re-write.

Congrats to the many students who participated in the area Cross Country today!

Dear Parents,

Math tests were handed back today. For the most part, they were very well done! If your child received below a "3-" on any section, they will be eligible to re-write the test. In order to do so, they will need to have their test signed and corrected, attend a mandatory workroom, and demonstrate that they have practiced extra questions to prepare for their retest. The maximum grade they can bring their mark up to will be a "3-".  There should be another 2 tests in Numbersense, which will allow for room to improve their grades.

Students were given grade 8 Quebec trip surveys. It's important that we receive these ASAP in order for us to start organizing this trip.  Please fill it out when you get a chance.
